Petrol Industries has replaced its paper pick lists with mobile computers. The clothing giant recently moved to a new distribution centre in Tilburg and decided to immediately optimise its logistics processes.

Disorganised processes
Petrol Industries has experienced significant growth in recent years, meaning the old warehouse soon became too small. Additional storage space was rented, but according to Managing Director Elwin Flint, this resulted in disorganised and chaotic processes. To bring order to the situation, the focus was therefore placed on improving delivery reliability and the efficiency of the order-picking process.

Improved picking performance
Petrol Industries is now using ICS Vertex, a software solution from it suits IT. The solution comprises 15 mobile computers and ICS Warehouse ScanSuite software. These computers are used for picking garments and communicate continuously with ICS’s middleware. The ERP system receives an immediate notification when an order is ready. The retailer has been using the new system for two months now and has seen its picking performance increase by around 20 per cent during that time. In addition, the administrative burden has been significantly reduced as invoices and packing slips are generated automatically.
