Prologis is building a built-to-suit distribution centre for an as yet unknown international logistics provider in Nieuwegein. It involves a building with an area of 23 thousand square metres.

The new DC will be completed in the second quarter of 2017, but has already been labelled with the Breeam rating 'very good'. It is said to be a building with high-quality specifications.

The distribution centre will be located at Het Klooster business park, near the A2, A12 and A27 motorways. In this region, Prologis currently already owns three other distribution facilities. The new DC will bring Prologis' total square metres in the Utrecht region to over one hundred thousand. Last year, the company bought the new fresh food centre from logistics provider XPO Logistics for Albert Heijn, among others. "We have been active in this region for years and see strong growth in demand for a-class distribution facilities here. Alongside this development, we can expand by an additional 30 thousand square metres here to flexibly support our customers' growth," said Bram Verhoeven, country manager Prologis Benelux about the construction plans. "If we believe in a location, we will stay there for a longer period of time. We are alert to possible expansion. In Lage Weide it is about transformation of existing buildings, Het Klooster offers plenty of opportunities as a new-build location."
