The Arnhem-Nijmegen region still has forty hectares of land available for large logistics companies. There should be space for XXL distribution centres on logistics hub De Grift in Nijmegen and on business park DocksNLD, which is part of logistics hub Emmerich-Montferland-Zevenaar.
This is stated in the Regional Programme Work Locations 2021-2024 from the Arnhem-Nijmegen region, which is being submitted to seventeen municipal councils of the region for decision-making. It is proposed to make 12.5 hectares available for expansion at De Grift in Nijmegen. Another 20 hectares should be made available at DocksNLD in Montferland.
The remaining available space for large logistics companies, over ten hectares, will only be released after an evaluation in 2022.
Responding to companies' demand for space
"When last year we noted together that, after years of contraction, there was again room to issue land for business sites, it was necessary to make new agreements with each other," says Jan van Dellen of the regional portfolio holders' consultation Economic Affairs."With these proposals, we are responding to the demand for space from companies, also in the long term, thereby creating good conditions for employment growth. As a result, the Arnhem Nijmegen region will remain attractive for businesses to locate here."
