VidaXL will open a second distribution centre in Venlo next year. Due to continued growth, the online department store needs as much as 80,000 square metres of additional space.
VidaXL already opened a 100,000-square-metre distribution centre in Venlo in 2017. The company is now bursting at the seams there, partly due to the dropshipment programme it launched in 2018. This programme allows external parties to sell items from VidaXL on their own webshops. The online department store then handles the fulfilment of these orders.
VidaXL chooses Venlo again
For the new distribution centre, VidaXL again chose Venlo, it says, because of 'logistical advantages and the strategic location next to the current warehouse'. This month, the online department store will start the construction of the building at Trade Port Noord. VidaXL wants to be operational there in a year's time.
Sustainability
During construction, the company is aiming for BREAAM-NL 'Very Good' sustainability certification. Solar panels will be installed on the roof of the distribution centre.
