Logistics property company WDP is investing 100 million euros in the construction of a distribution centre for cocoa giant Barry Callebaut. The hall will have an area of 60,000 square metres.

The chocolate depot will rise on a new industrial estate in Lokeren, Belgium, near the Antwerp-Ghent motorway and a short distance from the port of Antwerp.

The distribution centre will be completely energy-neutral. With the hub, Callebaut wants to 'centralise and anchor' its global logistics activities. The existing distribution centres around Aalst will close in the next few years. Barry Callebaut expects to be operational in Lokeren in two years' time.
