Logistics organisations are increasingly engaging with Internet of Things. 32 per cent of companies in Wholesale and Logistics say they are working on applying IoT in one way or another. Only the Industry and Retail sectors score higher.
This is according to research by ICT service provider Sogeti, conducted by research firm Pb7 Research. "About nine in 10 organisations with 100 or more employees are working on IoT in one way or another. They have solutions in use, they are in the process of implementation, have concrete plans or are seriously considering it," the researchers write in the Internet of Things Survey: Netherlands 2016.
In Wholesale & Logistics, large numbers of projects are in the pilot or implementation phase. Here, realising cost reductions in processes plays a major role. Sixty per cent of logistics companies see this as an objective. In other companies, this is an objective in 50 per cent of cases.
According to Pb7 Research, almost all companies want to get started with IoT, but are hesitant because they are poorly informed about the laws and regulations in the Netherlands. "Think for example of privacy issues. It also forces organisations to be cautious," the report says.
