Amazon markets a service that links robots and automation software. With AWS IoT RoboRunner, several robots can be managed through one system view.

Amazon says it has noticed in recent years that companies are struggling to operate different types of robots from different vendors, such as AGVs or AMRs. "With AWS IoT RoboRunner, companies can connect robots and work management systems so that all processes are managed through one system view," Amazon writes in a blog post.

The service is based on the technology Amazon uses in its own fulfilment centres. So the api's are now becoming available to developers from other companies. They can build applications to which they can hang different robot types and systems. After that, it will be possible to standardise robots' tasks.

The software service is currently in the preview phase. US and European customers of Amazon Web Services (AWS) can already use it.
