ISB Global, specialist in waste and recycling, wants to reduce logistics costs and CO2 emissions with an advanced Internet of Things application.
The app, developed with Low-Code platform OutSystems, is deployed to read container fill levels at regular intervals, process this data and generate forecasts of future fill levels. The insights from this application make it clear when the container has reached its maximum fill level and what the optimal collection time is. This approach reduces logistics costs and CO2 emissions.
Optimal route planning
With this application, ISB Global says it will ensure optimal duty rosters and route planning for waste container emptying. "Most waste companies have a traditional collection process and empty containers on fixed days and based on static routes. This is inefficient as rubbish trucks drive long distances to empty half-empty containers while ignoring overflowing containers," the company states in a press release.
Uberisation of the waste management sector
ISB Global's application works on the basis of a route engine. This feature generates flexibility in routes. In addition, the application provides a complete overview of demand and collection requirements, such as volume and weight. "This application represents the first step towards complete 'Uberisation' of the waste management sector," the company said.
