All lights are green for ICT & Logistics on 4 and 5 November 2020. The trade fair will take place in Jaarbeurs as usual, but will be given a hybrid twist; in addition to physical meetings, digital meetings will be facilitated. With the theme Resilient Logistics, ICT & Logistiek responds to current events. How do we create logistics chains that are robust and flexible enough to cope with disruptions?

It is not only from the government that there is permission for trade fairs to go ahead, talks with exhibitors and a survey of potential visitors have also been very positive about the upcoming edition of ICT & Logistiek. Of the previous visitors, 69 per cent indicated last week that they are very likely to come to ICT & Logistiek 2020. There is sufficient confidence in a safe exhibition visit according to RIVM guidelines.

Hybrid edition

ICT & Logistiek 2020 will be a hybrid edition. As in previous years, Jaarbeurs in Utrecht will be the trade fair's home location, where all the necessary measures have been taken to ensure a pleasant and safe visit to the trade fair. Up-to-date information on this will be shared on the Jaarbeurs website. In addition to the physical exhibition floor, digital interaction opportunities will be created, such as live streaming and playback of presentations, a meeting planner and an event app with a personalised programme.

Ivo Meertens, brand manager ICT & Logistiek: "With digital tools such as a meeting planner and event app, a visit to the fair may become even more targeted and effective than before. Logisticians who cannot physically visit the trade fair will still have the opportunity, via live streaming and watching back seminars, to keep abreast of developments in the field in order to make the right business choices. In this way, we can bring together and inspire many thousands of fellow professionals in an accessible way."

Resilient Logistics: flexibility and connectivity

This year's theme is Resilient Logistics: flexibility and connectivity. Globalisation, digitalisation and the rise of e-commerce have advanced the sector at a rapid pace in recent years. However, the corona crisis made it clear that those globalised and sophisticated just-in-time supply chains also have a downside. Globally, logistics chains came under pressure when production in China came to a standstill. There is a growing realisation among many companies that robustness is needed to cope with future disruptions. In addition, flexibility is demanded so that companies can respond quickly to changes in supply and demand. Connectivity plays a major role in all this.
