From the end of next year, Dachser aims to make emission-free deliveries in at least 11 European inner cities. The logistics service provider won an award for emission-free city logistics in Stuttgart in 2018. Dachser is now expanding these sustainable efforts to other major cities in Europe.
In December 2018, Dachser won an award for sustainable city logistics with a pilot project in Stuttgart, held by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment. Since then, Dachser has been operating green in the inner cities of Stuttgart, Freiburg and Oslo. By the end of 2022, it will also do so in Berlin, Munich, Strasbourg, Paris, Prague, Copenhagen, Madrid and Porto.
In the city centres of those cities, Dachser will drive around with electric vans, trucks and cargo bikes tailored to local needs. Dachser's cargo bikes are specially designed for piece and pallet goods up to 250 kilograms. They start their journey at local hubs, which are supplied by e-trucks. These electric trucks are optionally also used in the city centres themselves, when goods are not suitable for bicycles due to their size or weight.
