Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are undeniably on the rise in our warehouses. The vehicles are easy to use and flexibly deployable, while offering an answer to the tight labour market. Not surprisingly, Zetes has taken a 50 per cent stake in Robotize, a Danish supplier of AMRs. Robotize's robots are mainly used for transporting pallets.
Zetes' investment is part of a trend. The market has seen such an influx of AMR suppliers in recent years that a wave of consolidation is obvious. Several traditional logistics solution providers have already expanded their product portfolio by taking a stake in a mobile robot supplier.
The investment in Robotize is a logical step for Zetes CEO Pierre Lambert, as both companies share the same mission: to develop solutions that support people, but do not replace them. "Together, we will develop complete solutions that improve internal logistics operations and respond to the changing needs of our customers."
Answer to staff shortage
With a joint team of specialists in mechanics, electronics and especially software, the two parties aim to develop innovative solutions that ensure greater efficiency and productivity in logistics operations. In doing so, they hope to provide an answer to growing challenges in production and logistics such as staff shortages.
Robotize was founded in 2016 in Lyngby, Denmark, and has grown into a supplier of AMRs for various sectors, including food and beverage, heavy machinery and cleaning equipment. In particular, the robots are used for safe, reliable and automated material handling in production and logistics environments.
