Albert Heijn thinks it has a solution for the closed door. The supermarket chain is testing a smart lock that allows delivery drivers to deliver groceries without the customer being at home.

Emerce writes. The pilot comes from Albert Heijn Online Labs, a team that develops and tests new concepts. Last year, Online Labs introduced the delivery service Rappie, which promised to deliver within two hours.

For the test, Albert Heijn is working with smart door locks from Nuki. A select group of customers will receive a Nuki door lock with which they set the Albert Heijn delivery driver to enter the house. The customer manages the digital key via the app.

"With the latest technologies, we can use these smart locks to provide access to our customers' barns or homes, literally placing the groceries right into the fridge," Albert Heijn explains the test. "Of course only with the customer's permission. With these smart locks, we are removing an important delivery barrier as well as offering our customers even more service than they are already used to from us."
