Vos Logistics has replaced the fleet management system it has been using for more than 20 years, fitting all 1,200 trucks with a new on-board computer from supplier Wabco.

Vos Logistics noted in 2018 that after 20 years, it needed a new telematics solution in hardware and software. "To improve our communication with internal and external stakeholders, work more efficiently and offer better services to our end customers," explains Pieter Derksen, Purchase Manager at Vos Logistics. "Wabco worked out a proof-of-concept, combining a fixed TX-SKY on-board computer with the TX-FLEX driver app. We tested the platform in 15 vehicles from five different sites and the solution met each of our predefined requirements."

On-board computers

Wabco has now replaced all 1,200 existing on-board computers from Vos Logistics' vehicles with TX-SKY. These fixed devices will function as a secure communication gateway: drivers will find navigation and planning details, feedback on available driving and resting times and their driving style.

App

In addition, Vos Logistics' drivers use the TX-FLEX app. This allows them to complete a range of tasks outside the cabin via their smartphone: scanning barcodes, signing documents, uploading photos, adding customer feedback or pallet information and reporting problems. That information is then synchronised with the on-board computers via bluetooth and can be shared with Vos Logistics ' back office platform.

In addition to the 1,200 units, Vos Logistics plans to purchase an additional 300 TX-SKY systems to integrate into the vehicles of carriers it will take over during 2019.
