Training was already encouraged from the government, but from 1 July 2015, logistics companies are also legally obliged to have their employees attend training. On that date, the legal right to training goes into effect, which means that employers must enable their staff to attend training that is necessary to perform the job.
Training compulsory when job lapses
Even if an employee's job lapses, he or she must be given the opportunity to be prepared for another position. This also applies if the employee can no longer perform the job for another reason.
Deduct costs from transfer compensation
What will this mean for employers in logistics? In principle, they pay for employee training. However, employability costs, which are incurred when training is involved, may be deducted from the transition compensation as of 1 July. Note: in doing so, deduction of these costs must be agreed in writing with the employee.
