Uber is plunging into meal delivery in addition to passenger transport. In the United States and England, the company has already entered this market and it seems a matter of time before it is the turn of continental Europe as well.

Uber's service has been named UberEATS and works almost the same as the company's taxi service. Only difference is that it does not carry people, but meals. Other goods are already delivered by Uber as well, such as internet orders from general, locally owned online shops that offer same-day delivery. The use of Uber could increase the speed of delivery. On its US website, the company writes: "Get the food you want, from the local restaurant you love, delivered with Uber speed."

Europe's turn
The German cities of Berlin and Munich seem to be first on the mainland of Europe, reports Emerce in response to vacancies Uber has online. The company seems to want to enter into partnerships with restaurants in order to get a foot in the door. In any case, Uber will not get a monopoly, as the market is growing fast. Parties such as Deliveroo and Foodora already deliver food for restaurants. They do this in the Netherlands, among other countries. TakeAway.com, JustEat and DeliveryHero also offer the service.
