The flag can go out at Amazon, as the company has achieved a major milestone. The latest edition of Prime Day, a day where registered members get discounts, has brought Amazon 60 per cent more consumer orders worldwide compared to last year. In the United States, Amazon recorded 50 per cent more sales.
In fact, Amazon calls this edition of Prime Day the biggest day in its corporate history. Without going into detail about sales, the US company let it be known that the number of orders went through the roof. Remarkably, the mobile application was used twice as often this year as last year.
Sales predictions
Prior to the sales day, experts predicted that sales could reach a billion US dollars. Whether that amount was achieved is not known. Amazon encountered a problem with checkout midway through the day, making a billion dollars probably a little too high.
Key day
On Prime Day 2015, 398 products crossed the digital counter per second with a total of 34.4 million products. On that day, sales increased 266 per cent compared to an average day for Amazon. This year's data is not yet available.
