Midden-Limburg has gold in its hands with e-fulfilment. So say regional authorities, educational institutions and companies from the region. The parties are joining forces to put Midden-Limburg on the map as an e-fulfilment region.
Central Limburg would be an excellent region for e-fulfilment, as goods can be delivered from there to a large part of European households within one day. "From an e-fulfilment distribution centre in Central Limburg, it turns out that it is possible to have a cutoff time of 7pm in the evening for Germany, while from a location in Brabant, for example, it is often 3pm in the afternoon. This is a huge advantage for pan-European webshops," explains Roy Lenders, initiator of the partnership and lecturer in supply chain management at Fontys International Campus Venlo.
On 3 November, the Central Limburg partnership will launch a proposal designed to contribute to the further growth of e-fulfilment in the region. The partnership comprises companies such as Wetron Transport & Logistics, Moonen Packaging, Dimass, HC Distributie, vidaXL, Exitable and BlueHub, as well as the educational institutions Fontys University of Applied Sciences and Gilde Opleidingen/Centre for Logistics Expertise. Together, they will invest in knowledge-sharing and regional marketing centred on e-fulfilment, with the aim of attracting online shop owners looking to expand across Europe to the region.
