With all the developments in the supply chain, the demand for professionals with specific skills, especially in the field of concept development and implementation, is growing. Consequently, the number of vacancies within the Supply Chain Management profession rose by over 19 per cent in the second quarter of this year.

So states Yacht in its quarterly report. The job titles in vacancies remain the same for the time being, but the job content and required competences of the requested professionals are changing. Vacancies are looking for professionals who can contribute to concept development, implementation and mastery of new concepts in a changing environment. "Competencies that supply chain professionals need in this respect are: a high analytical ability, a creative and practical attitude and implementation power," says Hilbrand van der Kooi, director SCM&P at Yacht.

Logistics Manager and Supply Chain Manager in demand

The number of vacancies for Logistics Managers increased the most in the second quarter compared to a year earlier (+35 per cent), followed by the Supply Chain Manager position (+24 per cent). "Both roles are needed for concept development and implementation," Yacht explains in a press release. The most in-demand position remains that of Supply Chain Planner. In the second quarter, 1,300 unique vacancies for this role were posted, and nationwide, there are now 2.2 vacancies for every available supply chain professional.

The labour market is particularly tight in the south of the Netherlands. In the Brabant region, there are three vacancies per supply chain professionals.
