Picnic and Wehkamp have joined forces. The online supermarket will take return deliveries from Wehkamp in Amersfoort. In the future, Picnic may also start delivering for the web giant.
The two parties have integrated several logistics flows and ICT systems for the pilot. Picnic customers give their Wehkamp returns to the delivery driver, who makes sure Wehkamp receives them. Picnic has already been doing this for a library in Houten since last year, for which it collects and returns books.
The choice of Amersfoort was an obvious one for Picnic. In 2015, Picnic launched its delivery service here. It now comes to the door of a quarter of Amersfoort families. "So it is easy and sustainable to take Wehkamp's return parcels and the effect is huge," said Picnic founder Michiel Muller. It is unclear yet whether Picnic will collect returns for Wehkamp in other cities in the future.
