The number of vacancies in the logistics and transport sector continues to rise. The number of vacancies at the end of 2017 was almost 50 per cent higher than in the previous year. A new recruitment campaign should entice 1,500 truck drivers into the profession.

Using photos and interviews, Sector Institute Transport and Logistics aims to give a clear picture of the profession. Interviewed are truck drivers who recently made the switch to this profession.

Employer and employee organisations boost professional field through job guarantee. Employers offer a guarantee for a job of at least 32 hours. The co-payment for training for incumbent staff is zero and 15 per cent for new staff.

Willem de Vries, director of the Transport and Logistics Sector Institute, praises the many benefits the logistics sector brings. 'It gives a lot of freedom. Moreover, as a truck driver, you are indispensable; you literally keep the Dutch economy moving.'

Jan Boeve, director of TLN, adds: 'Earlier, we were also successfully looking for 2,000 new drivers. Because the sector is growing so fast, it is important to find even more people who aspire to this profession.'
