French logistics service provider Gefco is to collaborate with Techstars, the global network that helps start-ups and international start-ups in the industry. With the collaboration, Gefco hopes to support its strategy to drive innovation with new ecosystems.
Gefco sees particular benefit in new entrants to the market. The expertise offered through Techstars on entrepreneurship and innovation can be used with this collaboration. In return, Gefco invests in the start-ups, hoping that they will include a solution for the supply chain of the future.
The ultimate goal is to drive major transformations within the sector, although so far it is not clear exactly what that will be. "We are very excited to partner with Techstars, an accelerator with an outstanding track record in helping startups grow. Thanks to our agreement, Gefco has a unique opportunity to work with driven entrepreneurs around the world. We look forward to contributing with our knowledge and experience and applying Techstars' entrepreneurial ideas and creativity operationally," said Luc Nadal, chairman of Gefco's Board of Directors in a press release.
Route optimisation
Besides the investment, Gefco will also make a physical contribution: they will become mentors and guide budding entrepreneurs that way. The French company will also offer the chance to set up pilots in selected countries, allowing start-ups to test their ideas.
For now, the logistics service provider is calling on start-ups to come forward. Mainly companies involved in route optimisation and block chain software are in high demand, but also smart trackers or connected sensors that can lead to improved operational efficiency.
