Coolblue has announced the revenue and profit figures of its Belgian branch. Striking: profits rose faster than sales in 2017.
Coolblue's turnover in Belgium rose by 27 per cent to 311 million euros. Coolblue does not disclose exact profit figures, but it does disclose that profits in the country grew 32 per cent last year.
The e-commerce company is pushing hard in our southern neighbours. After Flanders, it also entered the Walloon market in 2017. In addition, CoolblueBezorgt was introduced in Belgium mid-year. The online retailer now has two delivery depots and forty delivery vans in Flanders.
CoolblueBikes to Belgium
Belgian consumers will soon also get their Coolblue orders delivered by bicycle. Still this year, CoolblueFietst will launch in our southern neighbours. In addition, the retailer plans to open local delivery hubs in Wallonia. From these hubs, CoolblueBezorgt vans will drive around.
Total turnover past the 1 billion mark
Earlier this year, ceo Pieter Zwart announced that Coolblue passed the €1 billion turnover mark in 2017. In total (Belgium and the Netherlands), the e-commerce company posted a sales increase of no less than 38 per cent to 1.2 billion euros. Coolblue's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) reached 21 million euros.
