With fitting cubicles at service points, DHL aims to shorten the process of returning clothes ordered online. Consumers can decide which clothes they want to keep and which will be returned immediately when they pick up their parcel.

Service points The Hague and Amsterdam

At the Noordeinde service point in The Hague, clothes can already be tried on. Later this month, fitting rooms will follow at the DHL Shipping Spot on Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam.

Student idea

The idea for the fitting cubicles came from students at Avans University of Applied Sciences, Entrepreneurship & Retail Management course. In April, as part of their studies, they researched solutions for the last mile, the final delivery phase in the e-commerce supply chain. By offering a fitting option at pick-up points, consumers do not have to go out again for any returns. A wrong size can be returned immediately.

'Unexpected new insights'

"The fresh perspective of students can provide unexpected new insights," said Ronald Leunisse, managing director of DHL Express in the Netherlands. "The idea of fitting rooms stood out. After all, time and convenience are important factors when shopping online. The DHL fitting room contributes to a positive online shopping experience."
