Dutch logistics specialist Costo is to collaborate with Irish technology company Eiratech Robotics, an expert in robot systems. The collaboration will make order picking by robots for Dutch and Germancompanies possible.

Costo develops solutions for intralogistics processes, including for the e-commerce and warehousing sector. Robots can speed up that process. "Essential at a time when consumers expect products ordered online to be delivered within 24 hours," Costo said in a press release.

Number of picks increased sixfold

According to the company, 70 per cent of order picking time is wasted walking and searching for goods. The Eiratech Eirabot, a goods robot controlled via a wireless network, can reduce that wasted time and increase the number of picks per hour sixfold compared to a conventional system.

Partner in the Benelux

The cooperation makes Costo a partner of Eiratech Robotics for Benelux and also offers the Irish company opportunities in Germany.
