After successful tests in several cities, Picnic has decided to introduce Sunday delivery as well. Picnic says it is the first supermarket to introduce Sunday delivery.
The Algemeen Dagblad writes. Picnic tested Sunday delivery since the end of 2017 in Utrecht, Ede and Veenendaal, Zoetermeer, The Hague, Delft, Leiden and Almere. In almost all cities, there was enthusiasm for the service, although it was used less in the predominantly Christian Ede and Venendaal.
Extra staff
The app-only supermarket is now rolling out the service to the 70 towns where it operates. For Sunday delivery, it needs extra staff. According to co-founder Michiel Müller, there is room for 15 per cent extra runners.
Criticism of working conditions
Picnic came under fire by FNV earlier this month. According to the union, working conditions at the online grocer leave much to be desired. FNV wants Picnic to pay higher salaries for 'the hard work people do at Picnic'. The two parties will soon enter into talks.
