Amazon has developed a delivery robot that will deliver parcels to homes. The robot is guided by an Amazon employee for now.

Amazon Scout is the size of a small cooler. The robot navigates itself along the pavement at walking pace, able to avoid obstacles. A video published by Amazon, shows Scout opening itself and the consumer grabbing the parcel. It is unclear whether the customer receives a signal by phone, for example, announcing Scout's arrival.

Amazon will deploy the autonomous delivery robot in Snohomish County, Washington. That is near Amazon's headquarters in Seattle. The e-commerce giant will start with six robots in a residential area, delivering parcels during the day, on weekdays. Initially, the devices will be accompanied by an Amazon employee.
