UPS is getting started with Loop, a system aimed at reducing the use of disposable packaging in consumer products. Loop customers will receive their products in sustainable packaging that will be collected by UPS after delivery.
To this end, UPS is working with recycling company TerraCycle. The system will be tested in Paris and New York in the coming period and then possibly expanded to other markets.
"Innovation is key to everything we do at UPS and we are very pleased to support TerraCycle with packaging design for the Loop bag, as well as collection and delivery services for Loop customers," said Kate Gutmann, Chief Sales and Solutions Officer at UPS.
With Loop, products are delivered directly to customers in customised packaging made from recycled materials. The products are delivered in a shipping bag that eliminates the use of single-use boxes. The packaging and shipping bag are then collected, cleaned and reused by UPS.
