Rotterdam startup Keepr wants to combat unnecessary costs, kilometres and handling in returns. The idea: consumers temporarily store their return product at home and send it on to the next buyer.
Consumers can opt for the peer-to-peer return solution Keepr at affiliated online shops, where they register their product, after which it is back in stock online. As soon as there is a new buyer, Keepr sends a new shipping label with instructions. The consumer sends the package and receives their money back. If there is no new buyer within 30 days, the product is still returned to the webshop.
Cheaper and more sustainable
"The consumer is a temporary stock location and the cost of new packaging material, handling, warehousing, picking and administration is eliminated," Keepr writes on its website. The solution is also said to be sustainable as it uses less packaging material and does not require transport to and from the distribution centre.
Pilot
Keepr's software will soon be integrated with eCommerce platforms such as Magento and WooCommerce. A pilot with several online shops will start in spring 2019.
