Zalando will no longer ship for free by default. In Great Britain, Ireland and Spain, a fee will be charged for delivery of small parcels.
Zalando became big in recent years by not charging shipping costs and having a very flexible return policy (up to 100 days free). The German etailer now seems to be going back on that. Britons, Irish and Spaniards who spend for less than 24.90 euros pay around 3 euros in delivery costs. Italy has been paying for delivery for some time.

Zalando says it has no plans yet to charge shipping costs in the Netherlands as well. "There is a turnaround in terms of free shipping," Els Breugelmans, e-commerce expert at KU Leuven told De Tijd. "It is telling that Zalando, the company that changed the rules of the game in the sector, is changing the rules again."
