Amazon employees get up to ten thousand dollars in severance pay when they resign and start their own delivery service. They do not have to fear a shortage of work; Amazon offers these employees a fixed delivery service.
Amazon last year set up Delivery Service Partner, a programme that allows entrepreneurs to run their own local delivery network and deliver for Amazon. Entrepreneurs who get into the programme and start working for Amazon have to make a $10,000 investment themselves.
The fact that many Amazon employees applied for the programme gave the e-tailer an idea. Amazon staff who want to run their own business will get three months' pay when they are laid off and ten thousand dollars to set up a delivery service. Amazon promises them a fixed delivery volume in their region. They get a delivery van emblazoned with Amazon logo and get to participate in training courses.
