Tom Omnichannel Management (TOM) is opening a third distribution centre in Bladel. The retailer wants to physically stock all products in its webshop and therefore needs extra capacity.

TOM, which started in 2005 with a bicycle shop in Tilburg and now has nine webshops, is moving into the premises in North Brabant this week. The company will then have a total storage capacity of 31,000 square metres, writes Emerce. The site would initially serve as a call-off warehouse for the two existing distribution centres. It was eventually decided that the distribution centre would also facilitate order growth. The new DC has 105 picking racks and offers space for 650 pallets.

The company is growing faster than planned. The webshops' product range has expanded and the number of orders coming in continues to rise. At the Shopping Award Ecommerce50, TOM was labelled one of the fastest-growing e-commerce companies in the Netherlands. "We want to have all the products we sell on our webshops physically in stock. As a result, we never have to sell no to our customers and can continue to fulfil our delivery promise," said CEO Tom te Riele.

The retailer will continue to expand in the coming period. In the last half of 2019, it will take up another 5,000 square metres of storage. In 2020, an expansion of 10,000 square metres is planned.
