Amazon looks set to officially start selling via Amazon.nl from next year. The etailer already has a Dutch webshop, but as yet only used it to sell e-books.
This is according to an internal communication to Amazon suppliers, seen by Emerce. The etailer offers suppliers and sellers the opportunity to set up a Dutch account already. To do so, it applies the same conditions as Amazon.de, the online giant writes in the announcement.
Sales via German website
Amazon's arrival in the Netherlands has been speculated about for years. In 2018, it seemed to be coming, when the online retailer translated all product pages into Dutch and added iDEAL as a payment method. Since then, however, Amazon.co.uk has only been used to sell digital books. The US etailer also sells other products in the Netherlands, but does so through its German website.
Delivery from German distribution centres
A Dutch distribution centre does not seem to be coming as yet. In the announcement, Amazon states that products will be delivered from German distribution centres located near the border with the Netherlands.
The date for the launch of Amazon.co.uk is still unknown. The etailer has not yet confirmed the news.
