MediaMarkt is once again facing delays. Due to the rush around Black Friday and Saint Nicholas, some customers have been waiting 20 days for their orders. The electronics chain blames the delays on problems at its distribution centre and at parcel companies it works with.
MediaMarkt already took longer delivery times into account around bargain day Black Friday. Consumers were advised to order on time, but the actual delivery time for dozens of customers is longer than communicated. On social media, complaints are raining down on MediaMarkt. Customers have been waiting twenty days for their laptop or Playstation controller, while precise information has failed to materialise.
Cause at distribution centre and parcel companies
MediaMarkt tells RTL Z that it has sent e-mails to customers who have to wait longer for their packages. The retailer says it is working hard to solve the problems, which are said to have arisen at the distribution centre and at the companies MediaMarkt works with to deliver the parcels.
"That is not a satisfactory answer for the customer, because he wants his product on time," a spokesperson told RTL Z. "We have not succeeded in that. A large team is now working daily to solve those problems. The lion's share have been solved, where they have not, we are working on an alternative or solution."
Second outage in a year
Earlier this year, MediaMarkt was already struggling with a breakdown in its logistics process. MediaMarkt attributes the delay to a technical malfunction in the logistics process. The move to a new distribution centre in Etten-Leur would also have caused problems.
