Lidl no longer delivers groceries to the home in Belgium. In Ghent, the discounter tested the delivery service last year.

In Ghent, groceries were brought to Lidl customers by bike, under the name Simpl. The supermarket chain wanted to test for a year whether there was interest in the service.

In May, the supermarket chain reported positive results: over 25,000 groceries were delivered in six months. Lidl even considered expanding the bicycle delivery service to several cities.

The test period is now over and no follow-up is planned, and it is unclear whether those plans are now off the table. Simpl's website states that the trial is now being evaluated.
