Albert Heijn is doubling its home delivery capacity. The supermarket chain is opening two new Home Shop Centres in Bleiswijk and Oosterhout (Gelderland).
In November, Albert Heijn already opened a new Home Shop Center in Amsterdam. Together with the new locations, the counter stands at seven HSCs. The three locations will double the capacity for online ordering. The new branches each have an area of 20,000 square metres. Some 1,000 employees will process 40,000 orders there every week.
22 million crates in 2019
The logistics sites in Bleiswijk and Oosterhout will also ensure better distribution. This creates room for growth in the Randstad and Eastern Netherlands. Albert Heijn saw the number of online orders increase sharply in recent years. In 2019, it delivered 22 million crates. The supermarket chain's home delivery service is now available to 86 per cent of Dutch households. The opening of the new HSCs is expected to take place late this year/early next year.
