UPS helps supplier Qiagen transport components for COVID-19 test kits. Qiagen dramatically increased production capacity in Germany to supply laboratories and hospitals with tests. UPS takes care of global product distribution.

The carrier reports this in a press release. Qiagen is a supplier of molecular diagnostics technologies. It supplies nucleic acid extraction kits essential for COVID-19 testing. In addition, Qiagen developed the new QIAstat-Dx test kits for coronavirus. These kits can distinguish the virus from 20 other respiratory infections within an hour.

UPS handles global logistics for the tests. The carrier recently invested two billion euros in its European network. It says this investment allows UPS to set up contingency plans needed in these fast-changing times. Through its European air hub at Cologne-Bonn airport, the company ensures the transport of essential shipments in Europe and beyond.

UPS also recently handled the shipment of ventilators to the National Health Service in the UK. In the US, the company is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with Project Airbridge, a coordinated effort to speed up the arrival of critical supplies needed in US hospitals.
