Never before had DHL been so busy in the Netherlands Wednesday proved to be the busiest day in the company's Dutch history; 900,000 parcels were processed.
With that, Wednesday surpassed the busiest December days of last year, reports DHL. The carrier works at 15 sorting centres and in 136 CityHubs to process and deliver parcels. Around 12,000 people work for DHL.
Delays
The company expects 90 per cent of shipments to be delivered within 24. The remaining 10 per cent will be delivered within 48 hours. Normally, the percentage delivered within 24 hours is 98.5 per cent.

Capacity expansion
DHL says it is now looking to accelerate investments in capacity expansion. This is because the parcel delivery market - 92 per cent of which is served by two parties - is reaching its capacity limits, according to the carrier.
