Jumbo Supermarkets has opened a new central hub for online groceries in Breda. Previously, groceries in West Brabant were still delivered from Jumbo branches.
Jumbo's fifth home delivery hub is located at Neerloopweg in Breda. By working with a central hub, Jumbo says it needs to make fewer kilometres in West Brabant. The supermarket chain can serve more customers online and plan trips better.
Jumbo Supermarkets saw the number of online orders grow rapidly in recent months. That's why it wants to scale up delivery capacity, including by opening smaller distribution centres for online groceries. Earlier, Jumbo moved into hubs in Amsterdam, 's-Hertogenbosch (at the e-fulfilment centre), Middelburg and Utrecht. Early next year, a new e-fulfilment centre in Bleiswijk is planned, which will also serve as a hub.
