Albert Heijn will also start delivering to the front door in Belgium. Some 85,000 Belgian households will be able to order from the supermarket chain from next week.

From 5 August, Albert Heijn's blue delivery vans will come to our southern neighbours' homes. The service will be launched in five municipalities in the Antwerp region.

The minimum order amount is 50 euros. Albert Heijn charges a maximum of 5 euros delivery costs. Prices are at the same level as in shops, the supermarket says. "We know what the Fleming wants: Dutch prices, a surprising range and personal service. You get that in all our shops, including online," said Raf van den Heuvel, general manager Albert Heijn Belgium.

Albert Heijn announced earlier this year that it would start home deliveries in Belgium. The final move follows a very busy period; the major retailer processed five times as many online orders shortly after the COVID-19 outbreak in the Netherlands. It attracted thousands of extra people to process orders and fill shop shelves.
