Another notable patent from Amazon. Last month, the web giant patented an underwater warehouse, now it wants to capture a delivery drone that talks to customers from the air.
Amazon describes the patent as 'Speech Interaction For Unmanned Aerial Vehicles'. The technology would allow it to communicate with consumers near the drone. This uses local Wi-Fi networks of individuals and businesses.
Consumers can change their order time via the 'talking' drone. Furthermore, the unmanned aircraft can alert consumers when a collision is imminent, for example, or it can ask a person to identify themselves before releasing the product.
The question remains whether drones will actually be able to communicate in the future. Amazon regularly applies for patents, many of which have yet to materialise. For example, it recently obtained a patent for an underwater warehouse. Last year, Amazon patented a flying warehouse.
