City Hub aims to grow into a nationwide network of forty logistics hubs in cities over the next five years. That counter now stands at four branches.

Last week, City Hub opened its fourth branch in Utrecht, at the Lage Weide business park. The building covers 6,000 square metres. Goods from various distributors are bundled there and transported to Utrecht city centre by electric trolleys.

City Hub also operates in Roermond, Amsterdam and The Hague. In the coming years, the company wants to grow into a nationwide network. Forty hubs are needed for that, CIO Rinse van der Woude stated at a congress of Vastgoedmarkt. "'Our ambition is to have realised that before 2025."

Finding suitable locations is one of the biggest challenges for the company founded in 2016. The location must be on the outskirts of a city and have a minimum area of 5,000 square metres. "Too big is not good either, because a large logistics centre also means a lot of traffic movements and then you quickly clash with the fit-in with the surroundings," says Van der Woude.
