Coolblue has commissioned electric delivery vans. The buses run on energy that the online player will generate itself from the solar roof on its distribution centre in Tilburg.
Coolblue deploys the fully electric buses for the delivery of TVs in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The online retailer has been delivering televisions itself for a year now. In doing so, it also takes care of the installation of the TVs. "It seems like something futile, but believe me: it is a huge process, with dozens of vans and hundreds of delivery people," said Pieter Zwart of Coolblue.
Starting this week, electric vans will do so. Zwart: "We expect 80 per cent of all TVs in Rotterdam and Amsterdam to be delivered to our customers with these electric vans." Expansion to other cities will follow later this year.

Meanwhile, Coolblue is also betting on its 'green' delivery service CoolblueFietst. The online retailer cycles in eight major cities in the Netherlands and Belgium. For CoolblueFietst, the online player uses its own physical shops.
