Because cybersecurity is not high on the agenda of logistics
companies, dangerous situations can arise. This is the finding of the
EVO’s Council for Logistics Knowledge. Companies should therefore work together
examine the impact that modern technologies have on the logistics chain.

Challenges posed by the Internet of Things
The rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) means that
an ever-increasing amount of data is becoming available. Companies can benefit from this,
but it also brings with it new challenges in the field of cybersecurity
. Physical devices are well secured, but all the information generated by these
devices generate is often overlooked. As cybercrime is only set to
increase, companies in the logistics sector have no choice but to adopt a robust
security strategy and the implementation of as many security measures as possible. This
includes data security and, for example, risk management.

Measures companies can take
EVO aims to raise awareness of cybersecurity among logistics companies and
is therefore inviting Wilma van Dijk, director of
the Cyber Security Centre, to speak at the EVO SCM conference. She explains
companies what measures they can take. According to Van Dijk, there is a strong
cyber emergency services capable of fending off a major attack and
. She also wants to collaborate with organisations to combat internet fraud
where fake computer addresses are used to take down a website or a
server.
