DB Schenker is doubling its warehouse capacity in the Amsterdam region. Construction will start this month on a 10,300-square-metre distribution centre, right next to the current DC.

The logistics provider has been renting a logistics facility at the Prologis Fokker Logistics Park, near Schiphol Airport, for more than a decade. Due to growth, the company needs more space, in the form of a new DC. In this cross-dock operation for air freight, DB Schenker will focus on healthcare and pharmaceutical shipments.

Prologis, owner of the new building, aims to meet the 'BREEAM Excellent' standard during construction. The roof of the building will be fitted with solar panels and LED lighting, among other things. The new location will be ready for use in the first quarter of 2023.
