Pet pharmacy Medpets is moving into a new distribution centre on Borchwerf II in Roosendaal. Three years after the previous warehouse was built, the web shop is already ready for a new location.
Medpets sells supplements, food, medicines and other pet supplies. Besides the Netherlands and Belgium, it operates in Germany, France, the UK and Austria. Medpets has been growing fast in recent years. A new DC is therefore badly needed.
The new building measures 11,000 square metres and has 14 loading docks. The extra space allows Medpets to deliver more products directly from stock. There is capacity to process 20,000 parcels per day.
The construction of the new total solution
Warehouse designer Vanas installed a roller conveyor system with two box erectors and labelling machines. When the boxes are closed, they are given a shipping label and sorted on a sorter from Vanas. The automation should increase productivity and reduce the risk of error in the warehouse. The box erectors and sealers also allow savings on packaging material.
Medpets expects to be operational in the new DC before the summer.
