19 January 2025, In the Utrecht and Flevoland region, Green Collective participants will collect paper and cardboard from businesses in addition to residual waste starting this week. Green Collective, an initiative of PreZero and Renewi, started over seven years ago with the aim of making a significant contribution to the Green Deal Zero Emission City Logistics (ZES): fewer kilometres, fewer emissions and less traffic congestion in city centres. Since then, over 7,900,000 kg of CO₂ have been saved and around 3,200,000 km less have been driven.

Paper and cardboard now also via combined routes

In addition to residual waste, paper and cardboard will now also be collected from businesses in the Utrecht and Flevoland region by collection vehicles bearing the Green Collective logo via combined routes. Wilco Ledderhof, Manager Business Development at Green Collective: "By combining the routes of participating collectors also for the collection of paper and cardboard, we are taking a nice next step. Paper and cardboard is a waste stream that many companies already separate. Now we can collect that waste stream even more efficiently and sustainably."

More impact through regional roll-out

Green Collective's new initiatives are also increasingly being rolled out regionally. Ledderhof: "Because our processes and systems are now well established, a regional roll-out is possible. In this way, we immediately realise an even greater impact per roll-out. We will therefore continue this approach in 2026."

More sustainable together

Green Collective invites corporate waste collectors to join the various initiatives to further increase impact. By collecting together, the initiative supports municipalities in the transition to emission-free logistics. The more participants join, the fewer cars on the road and the greater the impact.

Existing services remain the same

Nothing will change in the existing services and contracts of customers of the participating collectors. Each customer will keep the contract with their own collector, but the waste will be collected by a collection truck bearing the Green Collective logo.
