Kruidvat is commissioning a third distribution centre in Oosterhout in Brabant. From this location, it will supply some 400 Kruidvat shops in Belgium and the southern Netherlands from May 2022.
The new DC has an area of 14,000 square metres and will employ 80 people. From Brabant, Kruidvat expects to be able to supply shops more efficiently and to travel fewer transport kilometres. In time, this will result in transport savings of 16,000 kilometres per week and annual CO2 savings of about 800 tonnes. That is comparable to the annual direct energy consumption of more than 100 Dutch households, Kruidvat said.
"In addition to these savings, the capacity expansion will enable Kruidvat's future growth and help cope with peak periods, such as around the holidays. Opening the new DC will also create dozens of new jobs," said Yvette Heijwegen, Supply Chain Director A.S. Watson Health & Beauty Benelux, Kruidvat's parent company.
In October, work began on the foundation of the new building, which is owned by Weerts Logistics Parks. Besides the new DC to be opened in Oosterhout, Kruidvat has a regular DC in Heteren and a location for its online activities in Ede.
