Kuehne + Nagel wants to be fully CO2 neutral by 2030. For less-than-container-load (LCL) shipments, that deadline is even 2020.
The logistics provider announced this today. Kuehne + Nagel has set upthe Net Zero Carbon programme. This programme focuses on three pillars: detection , reduction and offsetting of CO2. The goal: a CO2-neutral operation by 2030.
"As a leading logistics company, we recognise the responsibility we have for the environment, for our ecosystem and for people," said Detlef Trefzger, CEO of Kuehne + Nagel International.
Using big data and new digital platforms, Kuehne + Nagel aims to optimise transport means and routes from a CO2 perspective. Direct emissions that Kuehne + Nagel says it cannot avoid will be fully offset from 2020. The company has set up nature projects in Myanmar and New Zealand and invested in several carbon offset projects, taking carbon out of the air.
