Picnic will also start delivering groceries to homes in the morning from this week. The online supermarket is testing the service in Leiden.
Normally, Picnic delivers to customers' homes between 2pm and 10pm in the evening. The morning delivery will take place between 8.00 and 12.00.
In doing so, Picnic says it is responding to a growing number of requests for morning deliveries. The app-only supermarket currently serves 275,000 households spread across seventy locations.
Picnic has been in the news frequently in recent weeks due to a dispute with trade union FNV. Picnic was allegedly structurally underpaying employees. FNV demands that the online supermarket applies the supermarket collective labour agreement in its distribution centres. Picnic refuses to do so and advocates a collective labour agreement for the e-commerce sector.
