Internet of Things gains ground in logistics sector. The market for IoT applications will grow to $19 billion (€17.89 billion) by 2025. This is an explosive increase from 2015, when the IoT market accounted for $2.3 billion (€2.17 billion).
This is according to the report 'Internet of Things (IoT) in Warehouse Management Market Analysis'. IoT will be deployed in distribution centres mainly for warehouse automation, workforce management, inventory management, digital data interchange (EDI) and tracking. The largest share is expected in warehouse automation solutions.
IoT applications are not only on the rise in distribution centres, but are also increasingly being used in transport. For example, trucks are increasingly equipped with applications that determine location and measure vehicle performance and maintenance.
